The Alaska Food Policy Council (AFPC), in collaboration with Oregon Tilth and the
Northwest Transition to Organic Partnership Program (NW TOPP), and Spork
Consulting conducted a Rhodiola market research project in early 2024. This work
aimed to explore the current state and potential of Rhodiola farming in Alaska,
identifying both existing and prospective growers, determining interest and challenges
around the organic certification process, and examining the barriers and opportunities
within this niche market. The project incorporated market research, two online surveys,
interviews with field experts, and a hybrid workshop.
